One more reason to grab a Beer. But is it the right one ?

Updated: Mar 12, 2023

Ah, yes, the magical healing powers of

beer! According to some misguided individuals, drinking beer can cure all sorts of ailments, including the dreaded kidney stones. But let's be real here: this is nothing but a myth.

First of all, let's talk about what kidney stones actually are. They're solid spiculated pieces of material that form in your kidneys, when there's too much calcium, oxalate, or uric acid in your urine. These stones can be incredibly painful to pass, and often require medical / endoscopic LASER intervention to remove.

Now, where does dear beer come into the picture? Well, according to some people, beer can help to dissolve kidney stones and make them easier to pass. But here's the thing: there's absolutely no scientific evidence to support this claim.

In fact, drinking beer can actually make kidney stones worse! Alcohol is a diuretic, which means it increases urine production and can dehydrate you. When you're dehydrated, your urine becomes more concentrated, which can increase the likelihood of kidney stone formation.

But hey, why let science get in the way of a good myth? Sure, let's all just chug beer and hope that our kidney stones magically disappear! Who needs medical treatment when you've got a cold beer pint.

In all seriousness, though, if you're dealing with kidney stones, don't rely on beer or any other home remedy to make them go away. See a doctor, get proper medical treatment, and follow their advice for preventing future kidney stones. And if you really want to enjoy a beer, do it in moderation and make sure you're staying hydrated! That's the way.
